This 3-day Down South journey is designed for travelers who want to experience the best of Sri Lanka’s southern coast together with an unforgettable wildlife safari. From the historic streets of Galle Fort to the golden beaches of Mirissa and the wild landscapes of Yala National Park, this tour gives you a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure while traveling in comfort with a private vehicle and professional driver.
Itinerary
Your journey begins with pickup from Colombo or the Airport. Travel along the beautiful southern coastal road while enjoying ocean views and small fishing villages.
Your first stop will be Bentota, where you can enjoy an optional river safari through mangrove forests. This peaceful boat ride allows you to see birds, water monitors, and local river life.
Next, visit the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built during the Dutch colonial period. Walk along the fort walls, visit the lighthouse, explore small cafes, and enjoy ocean views.
After sightseeing, continue to Mirissa, one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful beaches. Relax on golden sand beaches, swim in the ocean, or enjoy fresh seafood at beach restaurants.
After breakfast, travel toward Yala through scenic southern landscapes and rural villages.
In the afternoon, enjoy an exciting jeep safari inside Yala National Park. Yala is one of the best places in the world to spot leopards in the wild. The park is also home to elephants, crocodiles, deer, monkeys, peacocks, and many bird species.
During the safari, you will travel in a 4×4 jeep with an experienced safari tracker who helps locate wildlife safely and respectfully.
After safari, check in to your hotel and relax for the evening near nature.
After breakfast, begin your return journey toward Colombo. Enjoy a scenic coastal drive with optional stops at beaches like Hikkaduwa or Unawatuna depending on time and preference.
Enjoy photo stops, refreshments, and last-minute souvenir shopping if needed.
Finally, arrive in Colombo or Airport for drop-off, ending your Down South adventure with unforgettable memories.
